Job Description

L&D Team Responsibilities
The team currently consists of the Head of L&D, Senior L&D Advisor and an L&D Coordinator, all based in London, plus this role covering APAC. Our previous L&D Advisor has recently transferred to the London team so there will be excellent support and understanding of the role and region.  The team are responsible for ensuring that everyone across our global network has the same opportunity to benefit from learning and development, whilst providing guidance on career development and supporting in the delivery of regional and international learning requirements.  To do this, activities are broadly split across:

  • Business Skills and Career Development – we help our people across the firm to identify and develop the essential business skills they need for their career.  We run management and leadership programmes for our lawyers and business services staff at different levels, as well as offering a range of other development opportunities which are designed for particular roles and career levels.  We work closely with HR to provide career pathways and individual support where required.
  • Technical/Legal Knowledge and Skills – we work closely with our Knowledge Management team and International Training Partners to support technical/legal training programmes for our lawyers at all levels and in all offices.  The team are responsible for ensuring that we have a consistent and appropriate framework of technical learning across the firm.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your activities will involve, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain, review and deliver the core Fee Earner and Business Services career development programmes, ensuring the content is commercial and aligned to career development journeys.
  • Support L&D global and local projects and identify alternative sources of delivery where necessary to meet the stakeholder expectations.
  • Work with the Head of L&D and HR teams in the region to prioritise requests.
  • Source and manage external supplier relationships.
  • Develop effective monitoring and management systems to ensure L&D objectives are met.
  • Provide L&D advice to support Fee Earners and Business Services staff.
  • Support the firm's coaching and mentoring programmes.
  • Support the use of the LMS in APAC.
  • Support the Learning & Development team in a variety of ad hoc duties as and when required.

We deliver most of our core programmes virtually, so travel is not required, however, given the APAC time zones and London head office, there is the need for some evening calls/meetings.  We are flexible with work from home or hours generally and this can work around your personal and work commitments.

Desired Skills and Experience

If you have around 3 years' experience in a professional services firm within HR/L&D and demonstrable experience delivering training programmes, this role could be right for you.  You will also need:

  • An understanding of continuous professional development requirements in a professional services environment
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Insights Accreditation useful but not essential

What's in it for you?

We are a diverse, friendly and down to earth firm and you will work across the APAC region with our six offices (training is mostly delivered virtually to cover all offices).  Working with a small L&D team (London based) and local HR teams, you will have the opportunity to shape the training delivered and build new programmes over time. Along with great offices in the CBD and work from home availability (60% in the office preferred), we offer 26 weeks parental leave, option to buy additional annual leave and wellbeing benefits.  If you enjoy the opportunity to work independently with the support of a wider team and like working with different cultures and people, apply now and find out more.
